Florida Man Charged After AI Image Shows Sheriff Wounded, Fleeing Gunmen

A Florida man was arrested after deputies tied him to an Instagram account that allegedly posted an AI-generated image depicting Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno wounded and running from two armed figures.

Christopher Ashley Nimmons Jr., 30, of Estero, was taken into custody Sept. 29 and charged with making a written or electronic threat to kill or do bodily injury. Deputies also charged him with violating a domestic violence injunction after finding a handgun in the vehicle where he was arrested.
