Ex-employees of New Orleans Dollar General demand answers after sudden store closures

Former Dollar General employees July 15 rallied to demand answers and financial compensation over the national chain’s abrupt closure of all but one of its New Orleans stores.

“We want communication, severance, transfers and answers,” former workers chanted outside a now abandoned Dollar General storefront on Earhart Boulevard.

Employees were laid off the week of June 22 with little notice or information regarding the sudden store closures. Some are demanding 60 days of severance pay, while others are asking for transfers to other stores in the area without pay cuts…
