Around 12 million gallons of sewer water have been discharged into the Industrial Canal over the last four days as Sewerage and Water Board officials work to plug a broken main that was hit by a boat, agency director Randy Hayman said Tuesday.
The broken pipe spewing sewage into the canal is expected to be capped by the end of the week, Hayman said in a video update. Repairs should take several weeks to complete, he added.
