NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Before the festivities for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival commence, residents and visitors are advised of traffic and parking impacts near the Fair Grounds area.
The New Orleans Police Department urged motorists to follow all posted signage and to plan ahead of time.
Throughout the course of the two-weekend festival, the following street closures will be in effect:
- Mystery Street and Fortin Street
- Sauvage Street and Fortin Street
- North White Street and Fortin Street
- North Lopez Street and Fortin Street
- Crete Street and Fortin Street
Additionally, officers said parking enforcement will be active, and those violating will be ticketed. Motorists should abide by the following parking guidelines:
- Do not block or park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
- Do not park within three feet of a driveway
- Do not block sidewalks or park in fire lanes
- Do not park in bike lanes
- Do not park within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop sign
For festivalgoers who plan on using public transportation, you’re in luck as the ferry service and Canal streetcar line will closely be monitored and operated as scheduled.
