New Orleans piano instructor accused of rape, molesting juveniles

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man has been accused of rape and molesting juveniles in New Orleans.

According to the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, 47-year-old Joshua Wexler was arrested and booked on charges of first-degree rape, molestation of a juvenile and two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

He has lived in both New Orleans and New York and worked as a piano instructor. Investigators have also developed information indicating that he taught jiu-jitsu.

Wexler is accused of sexually abusing children as young as four years old, including both male and female victims. Some reports allege that this abuse occurred during lessons.

“When someone is in a position of authority or trust, it can be incredibly difficult for a child to understand what is happening, let alone speak about it,” said District Attorney Jason Williams. “We want survivors to hear this clearly: if this happened to you, or to someone you know, we are here for you.”…
