While the mysterious people that have been seen crawling out of New York City sewers in the early hours of the morning have caught the headlines, they are not the only criminals moving around while most of the city sleeps. Mail thieves are also running rampant, from stealing packages off stoops, to finding ways to pull envelopes out of the blue USPS mailboxes scattered around city sidewalks. Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning spoke about the theft and what Curtis is doing to personally protect his neighborhood.
“Two guys early this morning, I see them, brand new motorbikes… no license plates; they’re dressed all black and they have the balaclavas around their face,” Sliwa told cohost Mendte. “I can see them, they’re preparing to go into action and steal from the blue mailboxes, so like a ninja I sneak up on them from behind… then I scream at them ‘GET THE F OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD’ and I bump one and he drops what he has.”…
