For the second time in the last two months, New Jersey health inspectors were not allowed to conduct a full inspection of Delaney Hall in Newark, state officials said Wednesday.
This time, the inspection was scheduled ahead of time, as GEO Group, the company that owns the immigration detention center, had previously requested, but health officials were still only given a limited tour of the facility on Wednesday, according to a statement from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
“Today, my health inspectors were once again denied full access to Delaney Hall, including the medical unit,” New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said in the statement. “This is unacceptable and continues to raise serious questions about what DHS and the GEO Group are hiding at Delaney Hall.”…
