A quiet stretch of early Wednesday morning turned tragic in Wall Township after a 23-year-old New Jersey man died from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle rollover crash on a Route 138 ramp.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m., at a time when most of the Jersey Shore was still asleep and the roadways were largely left to headlights, shadows, and passing emergency sirens. Police said multiple 911 calls came in around 1:47 a.m. reporting a severe crash on the ramp connecting State Highway 138 East to State Highway 35 North.
When officers and emergency crews arrived, they found a black 2019 Chevrolet Trax overturned and pushed deep into the wooded area along an embankment.
