Following a rally against the prospect of a data center on New Hook Road in Bayonne, officials revealed that there are two other plans that permit the same zoning dating back to 2022, though the City Council has made clear its opposition to the facilities.
After residents and members of the general public rallied outside Bayonne City Hall yesterday, including Mayor-elect Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski and 8th District congressional candidate Mussab Ali, the protest headed inside to the council meeting at 6 p.m.
The data center issue has the city on edge, and it played a role in Tuesday’s elections since Ashe-Nadrowski hammered Councilman At-Large Loyad Booker, her chief opponent, for being among those who approved an amendment to allow data centers.
