(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department said patrol officers in East Oakland recovered multiple firearms and suspected narcotics in the span of a week in late May, while making several arrests across separate incidents.
OPD said patrol officers responded on May 20 to multiple ShotSpotter activations in the 1700 block of 83rd Avenue, where they located a shooting scene and detained multiple people. Police said a search warrant at the residence led to the recovery of two AR-style pistols, and three individuals were arrested for suspicion of firearms-related offenses.
On May 23, OPD patrol officers conducted a traffic stop in the 10100 block of International Boulevard and spotted a short-barreled rifle in the rear seat of the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody for suspicion of firearms-related offenses and for being prohibited from possessing firearms.
On May 27, OPD patrol officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 3000 block of Arizona Street. At the scene, police said “officers observed several individuals inside the vehicle with narcotics in plain view.” Three people were arrested for suspicion of drug-related offenses. OPD said they recovered evidence believed to be used for narcotics sales, including money and scales.
Oakland police added, “OPD remains committed to proactive policing by removing illegal firearms and drugs from our neighborhoods and will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of the community.”…
