A team spearheading a housing development at Berkeley’s Ashby BART Station unveiled preliminary design images this week depicting five gleaming apartment buildings rising above green lawns and trees.
The buildings, which range from six to eight stories, are expected to be built in phases and will ultimately include 600 apartments, half of which would be permanently designated as affordable. The development, which will be at the current Ashby BART parking lot at Ashby Avenue and Adeline Street, is also expected to include about 25,000 square feet of commercial space, including retail and a health clinic or childcare center.
