STANFORD, Calif. (KRON)– Stanford Stadium was buzzing with energy Saturday evening as fans packed the stands to see the South Korean K-pop band BTS perform on night one of three sold-out concerts.

BTS tour lands in Bay Area for sold-out Stanford shows

The highly anticipated concert series marks the world-renowned band’s first appearance in the Bay Area in nearly eight years.

The band took nearly a four-year hiatus in June 2022 to complete mandatory military service required of all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 28.

Their return was celebrated with the announcement of their two-year world tour in early 2026, which began following the March 20 release of their latest album, “Arirang.”

BTS fans, coined as the “Army,” came ready, decked out in merch, souvenirs from previous shows, and, for one, a cap and gown.

Daina Carino-Lucero came straight to the concert from her commencement ceremony at UC Berkeley, where she graduated just hours before.

“I’ve been a fan of them since I was 14. I went through high school with them, and I went through college with them. This is actually my high school cap, so they just mean a lot to me,” said Carino-Lucero.

The remaining two shows will take place on Sunday, May 17, and Tuesday, May 19…
