Thunderstorms, Heavy Downpours, Flooding For Central Florida

ORLANDO, Florida – Warm and humid conditions continue across east Central Florida this Friday, May 29, 2026.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne forecasts scattered to numerous afternoon showers and thunderstorms across east central Florida, with the greatest coverage along the east coast after 2 PM. Rain and storm chances are favored near the coast.

The NWS warns of the following hazards during the peak storm hours this afternoon and evening on Friday:

  • Frequent lightning strikes
  • Wind gusts up to 50 mph in the strongest storms
  • Locally heavy downpours and localized flooding
