Officials in The Villages are angry after the quick sale of an abandoned home apparently bypassed $37,000 in fines that have been accumulating for years at the problematic property.
“It really galls me,” said Community Development District 3 Supervisor Gail Lazenby upon hearing the news Friday that the home at 3288 Shelby St. in the Village of Summerhill sold at auction.
There was no money left over from the sale to apply to the fines imposed over the past decade.
