A Summerfield man and his Ocala companion were arrested after being stopped near Wawa with cut straws and pipes.
An officer on patrol observed the occupants of a silver Chevrolet passenger car, 55-year-old Christian Allan Cieminski and 52-year-old Joshua Frank Manning, near the fuel pumps at the Wawa on U.S. 301 at 8:40 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
The officer knew the gas station was a frequent gathering point for narcotic users and people involved in drug-related activity. The property had multiple entrances and exits, allowing vehicles to enter and leave quickly. This contributed to its use as a common stop for people trying to avoid law enforcement detection, the report said.
When the vehicle left the parking lot, it did not come to a complete stop at a stop bar. This prompted a traffic stop at the intersection of County Roads 209 and 466. Both Cieminski and Manning appeared visibly nervous, shaking and unable to keep still during the interaction.
