A Marion County landowner who previously filed legal action against the county following the denial of a proposed 72-home subdivision has submitted a revised proposal to build 71 single-family homes near State Road 200 in Ocala.
The updated plan for “Capozzoli Hills” was presented to the Marion County Planning and Zoning Commission during its regular meeting on Monday, August 31. The project is now scheduled to go before the Marion County Board of County Commissioners for a final vote on October 6.
Landowner Linda Capozzoli originally sought to rezone her 19.62-acre horse farm at 7317 and 7325 SW 80th Street in late 2025 to allow for a 72-home residential development.
Although county staff and the planning commission recommended approval at the time, county commissioners denied the required comprehensive plan amendment in December 2025, prompting Capozzoli to withdraw her concurrent rezoning request and file a lawsuit and mediation petition against the county over procedural notice defects…
