A man was arrested on multiple charges after a suspicious vehicle was spotted late at night at a country club in The Villages.
Michael Griffin Fielder, 44, of Ocklawaha, was taken into custody early Friday morning at the Glenview Country Club, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 1:11 a.m., a sheriff’s sergeant observed a pickup truck traveling through a roundabout before heading toward a recreation area that was closed for the night. The sergeant watched the truck park in the south end of the country club lot. A man, later identified as Fielder, exited the driver’s side, and a woman exited the passenger side. The pair then walked behind nearby buildings.
The sergeant ran the truck’s license plate, which revealed the vehicle was registered to Fielder and that his driver’s license had been indefinitely suspended in 2025 for failure to pay court financial obligations. The sergeant soon spotted the pair walking back toward the parking lot and detained Fielder. Fielder repeatedly refused to confirm his identity or provide identification, insisting he had not been driving the truck.
