An Ocklawaha man with a suspended license was arrested after taking too long to pull over because he was calling his wife.
An officer traveling northbound on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 observed 41-year-old Anthony William Carter driving a white Jeep at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
A check of the tag revealed he did not have a valid license and had numerous suspensions. The most recent was on July 20 for failure to pay a court financial obligation, the report said.
After confirming Carter was driving, the officer pulled behind him to conduct a traffic stop. Carter continued traveling in the middle lane, passing multiple safe areas to stop and a well-lit gas station.
