3 dead after woman steals patrol car and hits truck

A tragic incident unfolded when a 33-year-old woman, Kendra Boone, stole a sheriff’s patrol car, resulting in three fatalities and one person severely injured, according to authorities.

On the day of the incident, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Silver Springs, Florida responded to a report of an individual attempting to take an elderly woman’s car keys. Kendra Boone’s attempt to steal the keys was unsuccessful, but she persisted in trying to access the woman’s vehicle, prompting the response of Deputy Witte.

Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Witte instructed Boone to stand behind his patrol vehicle. However, as he exited the car, Boone managed to enter it through the passenger side and took control of the driver’s seat. Deputy Witte immediately tried to remove Boone from the patrol vehicle, but she quickly fled at high speed.

A vehicle pursuit ensued, with Deputy Barnes also responding to the incident. Boone’s reckless flight led to multiple instances where Deputy Barnes lost sight of the stolen vehicle as Boone repeatedly made U-turns, traveling in both eastbound and westbound directions on the highway. Boone was driving erratically at speeds well over 100 MPH as she attempted to evade the pursuing deputies.
