An intoxicated man wearing boxer briefs and no shoes showed up at the wrong house while visiting his parents in The Villages.
A deputy responded to a home in The Villages regarding a possible burglary in progress around 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, the deputy was greeted by the sight of 49-year-old Spencer Eden Burridge at the front door. He wore a red T-shirt and gray boxer briefs, without socks or shoes.
The deputy immediately detained Burridge in the back of a patrol car. Burridge admitted he had been drinking and concluded he must have been at the wrong house. He has been staying with his parents on Flamingo Place at Creekside Landing near Lake Sumter Landing. The parents’ home is about a mile away from the home where Burridge was found.
After determining he had committed no crime, the deputy asked Burridge multiple times to step out of the patrol vehicle so he could take off the handcuffs. Burridge instead stated, “Just take me to jail,” even after being told he was not under arrest. The deputy then drove him to his parents’ house and tried to let him go, the report said…
