NORMAN, Okla. – Mooney’s Pub & Grill says it may serve its final customers this weekend after learning the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority plans to begin preliminary work on its property as part of the ACCESS Oklahoma project.
In a statement posted to social media Friday, the restaurant’s owners said their attorney informed them the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority intends to begin core drilling in the pub’s parking lot Monday morning, signaling construction activity is imminent.
“As of today, we have been told that this weekend could be our last,” the owners wrote. “We plan to remain open and serving our customers until work actually begins. If they start Monday, we’ll be here until Monday.”
The announcement marks another chapter in the ongoing redevelopment associated with the future Toby Keith Expressway, a project that has displaced businesses and drawn opposition from some property owners along the planned corridor.
