For Oklahoma softball fans not aware of Goose Hutchens yet, she just promptly introduced herself to elevate what were already sky-high expectations for the freshman.
Hutchens donned crimson and cream for the first time on Saturday when the Sooners started their fall ball schedule with a 14-0 win against Tarleton State at Love’s Field. Hutchens, batting from the left side of the plate, blasted an opposite-field home run over right field, which was not only a sign of what was to come for the day, but also for her OU career.
She finished her first-ever college action with four hits, two home runs, and six RBI. Yes, competition during the real season will be a lot more challenging than Tarleton State, especially in the SEC, but this was still a preview that Hutchens will live up to all the hype…
