Oklahoma County Jail settles for $7 million in lawsuit of 2021 inmate death

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The Oklahoma County Jail Trust has reached a multi-million dollar settlement over an inmate’s brutal death in 2021.

Brad Leon Lane was beaten to death by a cellmate in the Oklahoma County Jail in January 2021. The attacker, Shaquile D Shaun Brown, used Lane’s own walking boot to kill him.

“The victim, when he came into the detention center, he had a boot, a walking boot, a brace, that he wears all the time, and it had a metal bracket in that brace, in that boot that he wore,” Greg Williams, Oklahoma County Detention Center Administrator, told KFOR in 2021.
