OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Redress Omaha, a nonprofit focused on housing equality, is working to get the city to cap rental application fees at $35 — and organizers are using community events to build support.

Clarice Dombeck, the senior campaign organizer with Redress Omaha, was at Turner Park Thursday, using the weekly summer event to recruit renters to the cause.
“This is a free community event that brings out so many different people from all parts of Omaha, all different walks of life,” Dombeck said. “And it’s very close to the neighborhoods that we’ve been canvassing in, such as Gifford Park.”
