Judge allows former UFC fighter to leave country for fight despite domestic violence charges

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A former UFC fighter based in Omaha who is facing domestic violence charges has been allowed to leave the country for a fight.

Sarpy County authorities arrested Anthony Smith last month on charges of domestic assault and false imprisonment.

Court documents say he was involved in a fight at a Gretna bar, where he reportedly threatened to kill the victim if they did not get into his car and go home with him.

Smith is out of jail on bond. A judge’s order filed today allows him to travel to the Dominican Republic between Sept. 27 and Oct. 3 to participate in a professional sporting event…
