A Front Door Project That Opened a New Chapter

The front door of a Victorian house is more than an entryway. It’s the intersection between private life and public life. It’s where families greet the outside world, where children stand proud for the revered first day of school photos, teen prom photos, family greetings, and where a Christmas wreath may hang during the holidays. The front door is where neighbors linger to chat and where the mail carrier knows to leave packages in that certain secret spot.

Over the years, the door absorbs routines and moods, slamming in frustration, swinging wide for celebrations, staying open during a party to welcome guests, and standing firm against winter storms and harm. The front door is one of the smallest architectural elements with the largest civic footprint. When it fails, the whole ecosystem around it feels the strain.
