Cleon “Uncle Lou” Williams will stop fighting his immigration case and accept deportation to Jamaica, according to a June 2 update posted to the GoFundMe created to support him and his family.
Williams is the longtime owner of Uncle Lou’s Entertainment Hall, the small Mills 50 venue that has served Orlando’s punk, metal, hardcore, experimental, and underground music scenes for nearly two decades.
Bungalower previously reported that Williams was booked into Orange County Jail in May under a federal immigration hold before being transferred into ICE custody. His detention prompted an outpouring of support from Orlando’s music community, including handmade signs on the front of Uncle Lou’s, benefit shows, a GoFundMe, and other fundraisers.
According to the GoFundMe update, Williams has been informed that he does not qualify for an immigration bond and that his legal options have become “extremely limited.”…
