Wing And Walmart Return To Florida Drone Delivery Two Years After The Last Attempt Failed

Wing and Walmart started drone delivery in Greater Orlando today, opening Wing’s first Florida market from two Walmart Supercenters and reaching what the companies say is more than 50,000 homes, businesses, and apartment buildings. Orders arrive in as little as 30 minutes.

The launch sites are the Supercenter at 1700 S. Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka and the Supercenter at 1450 Johns Lake Road in Clermont. Three more stores follow in the coming weeks: Ocoee on West Colonial Drive, a second Clermont location on US Highway 27, and Haines City. Central Florida joins Dallas-Fort Worth, metro Atlanta, and Greater Houston, the last of which DroneXL covered when it launched in January.

Heather Rivera, Wing’s Chief Business Officer, framed the launch around time savings for Central Florida families, saying the company measures “success in minutes saved.” Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President of eCommerce Fulfillment Transformation at Walmart, described the partnership as a way to give Orlando shoppers a wider assortment of everyday items…
