Pensacola homeless shelter unveils new patio for weathering hot summer

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — For both the hot Florida sun and rainy summer days, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has contributed an outdoor patio to Pensacola’s Waterfront Rescue Mission.

Known as the new ‘Waterfront Patio,’ the Mission cut the ribbon Tuesday morning on a space that will provide guests with a safe and comfortable place to cool off, recharge, and connect with others.

The project transformed an existing bike shed into a shaded space, all thanks to the $60,000 donation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In between meals and appointments, Mission guests spend much of their day outdoors. For Mission President and CEO Clay Romano, he felt ready to put this donation towards making a change…
