UPPER MORELAND — A New York man must answer to charges in Montgomery County Court that he stole an urn containing the ashes of an Upper Moreland Township woman’s daughter and held them for ransom for the $8,000 that he claimed the woman owed him.
Nuo Chen, 31, of the 4300 block of 195th Street, Flushing, N.Y., waived his preliminary hearing before District Court Judge Thomas P. Murt on felony charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by extortion in connection with the alleged plot.
Chen, who remains in the county jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, now faces a July 29 formal arraignment hearing on the charges in county court. After that hearing, a judge will schedule Chen’s trial date…
