Days after an undercover investigation by authorities, the 4026 Convenience Store on Market St. that operates as a smoke shop, was shut down. A police raid on Sept. 4 was part of a coordinated crackdown that involved state Rep. Amen Brown (D-10), Philadelphia police, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
It marked the 13th smoke shop to be shut down in Philadelphia in the last six months. During the raid, it was reported that law enforcement officers found $159,000 worth of bagged up, contaminated marijuana, guns, and cash inside the convenience store.
Brown, who informed authorities and prompted an eightmonth investigation, said the store owner sold weed to neighborhood children despite being located next door to Brown’s Breezy Mart food store.
