EL MIRAGE, AZ (AZFamily) — A suspect is in custody in connection with a shooting that left a teenage boy dead in the West Valley earlier this week.
El Mirage police announced Friday that 17-year-old Schiloh Albin Niyibizi of Surprise was arrested for the murder of a teen boy identified by friends and family as 17-year-old Ashtin Evans.
Around 8 p.m. on Monday, police received several calls about a shooting on Dreyfus Drive, near Thunderbird and El Mirage roads. First responders found Evans seriously injured and rushed him to the hospital, where he later died.
Detectives worked to piece together what led up to the shooting, which led to Niyibizi’s arrest on Wednesday. Police say Niyibizi was also shot, but did not elaborate further…
