Pennsylvania Mom Sues Starbucks After Disabled Teen Daughter Allegedly Gang-Raped in Coffee Shop Bathroom

The mother is also suing the school district and a property management company

A Pennsylvania mom has filed a lawsuit against Pittsburgh Public Schools and Starbucks, claiming their negligence directly resulted in the sexual assault of her intellectually disabled teen daughter.

In October 2022, three male students at Taylor Allderdice High School allegedly took the unnamed 15-year-old to a Starbucks bathroom and a nearby empty building and proceeded to sexually assault her.

The lawsuit states that Pittsburgh Public School District did not provide proper supervision of the teen, as well as blaming the property management company 101 Kappa Drive Associates #1 and Starbucks managers for providing inadequate security or training for employees.

Attorney Alec Wright, who is the attorney representing the mother and daughter, said that Pittsburgh Public Schools ‘failed to create a safe environment’ for the 15-year-old and accused Starbucks of failing to protect her when they ‘knew their businesses were causing criminal activity to occur.’
