Feds say Delray Beach office was hub for alleged $3.7B Medicare fraud

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Federal investigators say a modest office building in Delray Beach was the base of what they describe as one of the largest alleged Medicare fraud schemes in U.S. history — a $3.7 billion operation that prosecutors say targeted the federal health care program through fraudulent billing for medical equipment.

The FBI says Ibrahim Khaldoon Hilmi, accused of helping orchestrate the scheme, is back in South Florida to face charges after being arrested in Turkey. Investigators allege the operation ran out of an unassuming building near the corner of Linton Boulevard and Old Dixie Highway.

The FBI accuses Hilmi of helping run the alleged fraud through his company, Sunshine Senior Solutions. Online records describe the business as a medical supply company, though its website is no longer active…
