Seminole Middle School Field Trip Ends in Bus Fire, but Thankfully No Injuries

A school trip from SeaWorld Orlando for 37 Seminole Middle School students and four chaperones took a scary turn on Friday night when their charter bus caught fire on the Florida Turnpike.

Thankfully, everyone onboard escaped safely, authorities confirmed.

St. Lucie County Fire District posted on its Facebook page: “Multiple units responded to a fire involving a tour bus on Florida’s Turnpike last night.

“In the area just north of the Port St. Lucie Service Plaza, Fire District units were able to successfully extinguish a fire aboard the bus. All occupants were able to safely evacuate the bus and were not injured.”

Video footage captured by bystanders shows children running away from the burning bus, highlighting the dramatic scene.

According to reports, the fire erupted around 7:30 pm, just before the Port St. Lucie Service Plaza.

Mia Jolie-Bernard, a student on the bus, described the incident on WSVN7 News: “Something popped in the back, and it was crazy. We all woke up. Then I started smelling fumes.”
