Portland Public Schools to give teachers 2% pay increase, but it won’t take place until midyear

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Public Schools has agreed to a one-year collective bargaining agreement that opens the way for teachers to receive a pay raise for the 2026-2027 school year.

The district and the Portland Association of Teachers reached a tentative contract agreement earlier in May that would give teachers a small 2% cost-of-living raise beginning in January. Union members signed off on the agreement shortly thereafter, and PPS announced its approval Tuesday evening.
