Beloved Vancouver eaglet Peace fails to return to nest after first flight

A beloved Portland-area eaglet successfully took his first flight away from his nest Sunday, a week after his sister’s death – and hasn’t been seen since.

Peace, the baby eagle, hatched in late March at the Royal Oaks County Club in Vancouver, left his nest around 5 a.m. Sunday in a fledging attempt, according to a Facebook post from Royal Oaks County Club.

“We have confirmed that he is not on the ground and we are trying to see if he is on another branch at this time,” Royal Oaks wrote. “We will update when we know more.”…
