PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Following a contentious legal battle and sale involving a West Linn property, an Oregon school district has been reimbursed for the litigation fees.
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District’s Board of Directors has voted to allocate $921,147.65 in proceeds from the Oppenlander Field case to its general fund. This comes nearly two years after a Clackamas County jury determined the City of West Linn’s purchase of the property was not legally binding.

WLWV first acquired Oppenlander Field in the 1970s, declaring it as surplus land and announcing the administration’s plans to sell it in 2021. West Linn officials later moved to buy the land in response to public outcry about the potential loss of the community park.
