PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Local watchdogs have found Portland Mayor Keith Wilson violated campaign finance laws when he exceeded contribution limits during his 2024 run for office.
City code enforces a $579 cap on contributions from single donors, but Wilson surpassed this limit by $263 throughout his campaign, the City of Portland Auditor’s Office announced on Friday. Officials have preliminarily decided the mayor should be fined $526 for the violation, while two of the involved donors are expected to pay $121 and one is expected to pay $21.
The Auditor’s Office determined the donors exceeded the contribution limits by $21 to $121, although Wilson ultimately refunded each person 20 to 48 days after they submitted the payments.
