Fire at Vancouver furniture warehouse spreads to historic train car

A dumpster fire broke out at a furniture warehouse in Vancouver on Friday, ultimately spreading to an old train passenger car stored behind the building, officials said.

When firefighters arrived at 7017 Northeast St. John’s Road shortly after 6 p.m., they found the blaze had gotten inside the warehouse “and ignited furniture inventory” as well as starting a separate grass fire outside, the fire department said. Commanders requested a second alarm, which brought 56 firefighters in total to the scene.

Employees at the Furniture World warehouse all evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported…
