‘The best of the best’: Woodburn pastor detained by ICE as family searches for answers

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Woodburn family has more questions than answers more than a week after one of their own was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

His family says Fidel Cordero, who is from Mexico, was on his way to work at his construction job in Newberg on Monday, August 24.

“He went to work that day on Monday, and then he was on a phone call in his car, and they detained him,” Isaac Cordero, Fidel’s son, said.

Isaac is 17 years old and just started the school year; he said this year looked a little different. He said Fidel also works as a local pastor for the last four years, but he’s been a source of faith and strength for his family for much longer…
