To many Portland drivers’ dismay, the countdown has begun for the five-week closure of southbound Interstate 5 through the Rose Quarter.
Starting on Sept. 11, a 2-mile stretch of one of the state’s busiest highways will be closed day and night for repairs, with the Oregon Department of Transportation warning Portland drivers to prepare for significantly longer travel times and widespread congestion.
