PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Multnomah County prosecutors announced a grand jury has indicted Jesse Calhoun on a charge of first-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of a sixth woman, Elizabeth “Libby” Gibson.
District Attorney Nathan Vasquez, Senior Deputy District Attorney Melissa Marrero, and acting Portland Police Chief Brian Hughes shared details of the new charge during a Wednesday morning news conference. Authorities believe Gibson, a 32-year-old Portland woman, was killed on Nov. 18, 2022. Officials noted that to date, her remains have not been recovered.
A friend formally reported Gibson missing in March 2023. Prosecutors said while investigators were aware of her disappearance early in the multi-agency investigation, detectives gathered the evidence necessary to connect Calhoun to her death only recently.
