Assault suspect hiding in bushes caught by Washington County K9

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) –  On Saturday, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies caught wanted suspect, 29-year-old Rafael Ortiz, with the help of their K9 partner, Griff.

Initially, authorities say they tried to contact Rafael Ortiz near the 4900 block of SW Greensboro Way in Beaverton. Ortiz was wanted for multiple felony warrants and police say he was associated with a domestic violence case from March 28.

However, Ortiz did not cooperate and fled on foot to Westside Trail and hid in blackberry bushes. Officials say K9 Griff located Ortiz and ordered him to stop. Ortiz once again did not cooperate, and that is when K9 Griff stopped Ortiz himself.
