PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The old era of Portland is finally coming to a close as the Lloyd Center officially shuts its doors for good in August.
On Thursday, Lloyd Center ownership announced that on Aug. 8, the mall will officially close to the public as they begin their transition to a new neighborhood.
Although current tenants of the mall were told they need to have their mall operations complete by Aug. 31, officials said that Jumbo’s Pickleball, Trackers Earth and the Regal Cinema will all remain open.

“This is a necessary step toward delivering a new future for this site and for Portland,” said Tom Kilbane, the managing director of Urban Renaissance Group. “We recognize the history of Lloyd Center and appreciate the tenants who’ve operated here over the last few years. At the same time, the reality is the mall is no longer viable in its current form. As a city, we can’t afford to get stuck in the past, Portland needs this momentum for a more vibrant future.”…
