Early Monday morning, a quiet stretch of river turned into an emergency scene when Portland Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to a vessel fire on the Oregon side of the waterway. Firefighters put out the blaze, safely evacuated the two people on board and turned them over to medical personnel for evaluation. Officials said everyone at the scene was accounted for and that environmental response resources had been contacted. The bureau added that more details would be released as they become available.
