Man arrested in arson at planned Portland teen recovery center; Linked to other fires

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland police arrested a suspect in connection with an arson at a planned teen recovery center facility, KATU has learned.

Darrell Jovan Smith, 42, was arrested by East Precinct detectives and booked into jail Monday morning on charges of second-degree arson, attempted arson, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public indecency.

Crews were called to the 4D Recovery clinic, which is under construction, on NE 100th Avenue near East Burnside Street at about 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 11. The following Monday, the Portland Fire Investigations Unit and the Portland Police Bureau released a photo of the suspect…
