PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Homeowners in Portland will have to pay a little more in 2027 thanks to a city council ordinance passed on Wednesday.

City leaders push for new utility fee to fix Portland streets

The Portland City Council passed the measure to fund road repairs throughout the city. Starting in January 2027, homeowners will pay about $12 per month, with multifamily Portlanders and businesses paying lower rates based on their utility bills.

Low income families that are eligible for financial assistance can see discounted rates.
