Troutdale may ‘run out money’ if it keeps using deputies for police services, mayor says

TROUTDALE, Ore. (KATU) — The city of Troutdale may “run out of money” if it continues to contract with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement service, according to Mayor David Ripma.

Ripma and members of the City Council are considering reviving the Troutdale Police Department, which they shuttered in 2015.

Sheriff’s deputies have provided excellent service to the city since then, Ripma said, but the financials don’t add up…
