Black bear spotted roaming Newberg neighborhood; wildlife officials say it poses no immediate threat

NEWBERG, Ore. — A young black bear has been spotted roaming a Newberg neighborhood, prompting a response from state wildlife officials and drawing widespread attention on social media, according to statements provided to KGW on Tuesday.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed it had received reports about the bear and said it does not appear to pose an immediate concern.

“This bear cub is not approaching people or displaying other signs that would be a concern at this time,” ODFW said in a statement to KGW. “We expect it will move on to more suitable habitat outside town soon.”…
